Maintaining a Contamination-Free Environment

A cleanroom is a specially designed space that minimizes airborne particles, such as dust, microbes, and vapors. This controlled environment is essential for various industries where contamination can significantly impact product quality and safety.

Core Functions:

  • Air Filtration: HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) or ULPA (Ultra-Low Particulate Air) filters are the heart of a cleanroom system. They remove contaminants as small as 0.3 microns from incoming air, ensuring a near-particle-free environment.

  • Airflow Management: Cleanrooms utilize two main airflow principles:

  • Laminar Flow: Here, filtered air streams unidirectionally (usually downward or horizontally) throughout the space, sweeping away contaminants generated within the room.

  • Turbulent Flow: This method employs air showers and multiple HEPA filters to dilute and remove contaminants. It's generally used in less critical areas.

  • Environmental Controls: Temperature, humidity, and even pressure are tightly regulated within a cleanroom. This maintains consistent working conditions and prevents condensation, which can introduce contamination.
